“Small is beautiful” is the sweet spot where a small organization maximizes strategy and operations with great results for partners (from Engine of Impact). We reached that spot in SY2324 with the flywheel Jim Collins describes in “Good to Great” continuing to turn for EdScale. In SY2324, we were thankful to have the opportunity to expand our team to support more teams in Maryland, Delaware, and nationally to get better results and transform our educational system.
Supporting our partners is the best job I’ve ever had (and the longest I’ve ever had as a result)!
In SY2324, here are a few highlights:
- Book release “How to Implement (just about) Anything”, the #1 new release on Amazon for Education Administration. Order it here. Watch book launch event here.
- Book talks with all our partners and two leadership cohorts (Aspiring School Leaders in Maryland, and leaders in Delaware Department of Labor)
- Appeared on our first podcast with First State Insights (more coming soon).
- Built a team of SIX at EdScale (Allison Bradford, Sarah Sanchez-Leal, Elijah Mercer, Alyson Rich, Lui Agusa, and me). Read more about the team.
- Launched version three of our website. See it now.
- Started a monthly newsletter (this one)! See all posts here.
- Launched the inaugural “Management Boot Camp” blending formal learning, application, and reflection, and coaching — per research about how people learn and grow. Version two is queued up with partners in SY2425 with over 30 people enrolled!
- Attended the annual Heart of the Schools leader recognition event in Baltimore City (celebrating all leaders, but a shout out to two of the high impact multilingual learner sites in Baltimore who were recognized and awarded)! Watch video clips of the five winners or the entire event.
Goals for this upcoming year:
- Publish more stories and case studies on the impact and results of our partners (see one from Delaware Pathways developed this past year)
- Limited strategic expansion to scale impact (reach out for partnerships to begin in January)
- More podcasts and book talks to share lessons and stories of partners
- Reaching out to get to ten book reviews on Amazon to match our client feedback and quotes on our new website (keeps getting pushed down the priority list; please leave a book review here or via your purchase link)
During SY2425, I turned 45. I’m looking forward to another five great years at EdScale; at 50, I’ll see what’s next. But for now, this is exactly the work I was made to do (with partners I absolutely adore and a team that delivers results).
